If you asked Jason Dowd to describe himself with one word, he would say an “artist;” nothing more, nothing less. Dowd is a self-taught photographer, but has dabbled in many of the fine art mediums throughout his life.

Dowd's entire perspective on life has an artistic view to it. He tends to look at the larger picture, and finds beauty with the obvious and the dilapidated. When Dowd sees a sunset, he takes every aspect into play, to create the perfect picture. A sunset is just a sunset, a dark sky is just a dark sky, the trees are only trees until you add them together. There you will see their true beauty, the perfect picture if you will. When the dark oranges of the sun mix with the dark black sky to create a gorgeous utopia of colors, then include trees which add texture and depth to the perfect sunset, creating a spectacular hurrah to the death of the day; that is how he views life and humanity.

Throughout his artistic career, Dowd has found ways to incorporate the natural lighting situations he's given, and use it to make some amazing pieces of art. He never worried if he couldn't get a light to work, or getting the top of the line equipment; because he's always managed to make his equipment work in any situation. In most of his art collections, he never even used artificial lighting, he used the natural lighting the spot of the shoot produced and made it work. In one picture he submitted to the WWF (World Wildlife Federation) the only lighting used was an everyday flashlight. Utilizing this kind of ability, Dowd could be classified as a “light bender.”

In 2010, Dowd edged away from his normal photography, and started a photographic art collection. This collection has started waves, and escalated his career in a new and exciting direction. He also produced his very first music video “Shake the Cage” for the amazing metal band “Holes and Hearts.”

Dowd wants to continue producing more video projects and photographic art collections in the future. He puts his heart and soul into every single piece of art he puts his name on. He wants his art to make you think, to make you feel. If his work does this, even with a negative feeling, then he is content because he did his job. In the end, he wants his art to be viewed, because art isn't loved unless its seen.

A bad photographer with a great camera and equipment, will still produce bad photos.. just a little better quality. Its only when they understand how to make the surroundings work for them, and see the beauty in everything, will they become a GREAT photographer.” - Jason Dowd
